STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES
The staff and
students of Ascension, like all other members of the

A clean, safe, non-threatening environment
·
Courtesy at all times
·
Protection of private property
The following
expectations govern students attending Ascension Collegiate:
·
Regular attendance and active participation is required of
all students in courses delivered via classroom instruction or
personalized self-paced learning.
Students must keep to their schedules and are subject to
de-registration if attendance becomes a concern. Written
warnings may be issued after 5 absences and again after 10
absences students may be withdrawn from class after 15 absences.
·
Punctual arrival to school and at all classes is required of
all students.
·
Loitering in the school is a not an acceptable student
practice. If
students are at school they should be in class or in a
designated study area.
Fraternization with students in other programs (PSDL, K &
E, etc.) should not take place.
·
Professional and modest dress suitable to any proper work
place and productive learning environment is required of all
students.
·
ID tags must be worn by all students at all times.
·
A smoke-free environment is a part of all
·
Possession of alcohol or non-prescription drugs on school
property is prohibited.
Students in possession of or under the influence of
alcohol or non-prescription drugs will be suspended and possibly
expelled from the school.
·
Skateboards, playing cards, electronic equipment (beepers,
cell phones, and lasers) are not permitted in the school.
·
All parking is assigned parking.
Thus students are not allowed to park on school property.
Students choosing to park on school property will have
their vehicles tagged and towed at the owner’s expense.
·
No lockers are available for student use.
·
Only registered students are permitted on school property.
Visitors from outside the school must report to the
office and those who choose to disregard this policy may be
charged with trespassing.
STUDENT EVALUATION
Within
guidelines set by school policy, teachers are responsible for
determining evaluation procedures to assess student achievement.
Even though report cards are issued twice per semester, students
need to monitor their own progress and communicate with teachers
about achievement and evaluation concerns.
The school administration is responsible for ensuring
evaluation procedures are accurate, fair, and consistent.
Students who wish to appeal or question any evaluations they
receive should communicate directly with the contact
administrator responsible for the program.
